Thousands Rally in Front of Brazil's Congress in Support of Bolsonaro Amid Judiciary Dispute

Thousands of demonstrators gathered in front of Brazil’s National Congress on September 7 – the country’s Independence Day – in support of President Jair Bolsonaro, who rallied supporters to back him amid a row with the country’s judiciary.

Footage by Senator Marcos Rogerio shows an aerial view of crowds packing Brasilia’s Esplanade of Ministries, where Congress is located.

Rio Times Online said Bolsonaro’s clash with Brazil’s highest court concerned the authorization of a senate committee to investigate the president in relation to the coronavirus pandemic, and a dispute over his proposed changes to the voting system.

In a speech delivered to the crowd, Bolsonaro criticized the Supreme Court as unconstitutional, according to a report on the remarks by local outlet Folha de Sao Paulo. Credit: Marcos Rogerio via Storyful
