Thousands Without Power as Canberra Hit by Storm

Thousands of people were left without power after a hailstorm hit Canberra on January 3.

The Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning on Monday for giant hailstones, heavy rainfall, and damaging winds.

This video, posted on Twitter by Maria Del’Amore, shows large hail stones falling in a back yard in Canberra.

The storm primarily impacted the areas of Belconnen and Gungahlin, local news reported.
