Threat of Counter Protest Succeeds in Shutting Down LGBT March in Moldova

Police in the Moldovan capital Chisinau blocked a planned LGBT community march on Sunday, May 21, after counter protesters threw eggs and water, RFE/RL reported.

Activists had gathered for a fifth annual No Fear solidarity march when they were confronted by the protesters. The protesters reportedly comprised “Orthodox priests and believers.” President Igor Dodon was among the outspoken critics of the LGBT event.
