The three-generation family-run farm with a pumpkin patch perfect for Halloween
A popular pumpkin patch at a farm that's been family-run for three generations is ready to open ahead of Halloween. The Braintree farm is returning again ahead of the spooky season.
University graduate Finn Cousins currently runs the farm and introduced the pumpkin patch to the family farm at Long Green in Braintree. It's been running for just a couple of years but has proven to be a big hit with locals.
The Cousins family can trace their roots on the farm back eight generations to 1798. Although the patch is Finn’s project, the whole family including his grandpa get involved in producing many different varieties of top-quality pumpkins.

One review shared on Google last year said: "Absolute perfect. We were so lucky with the weather after days of rain, the sun was beautiful and the patch was the perfect size. It felt much more cozy and less mass-produced, there were lots of cute little touches along the way to enjoy, woodland walks, food stalls, tables to sit at, little areas to buy cute unique pumpkins, and wheelbarrows.
"Really friendly and informative staff. Loved the pumpkin house and the wood-chip path was really helpful to walk around easier. We will definitely be back!"
Another review said: "We came on Saturday just gone & this is such a lovely, well-run family business. There was a great selection of pumpkins to choose from, a little trail, swing & cute photo opportunities. Their coffee cart was cute with ample seating for how busy it was & every member of staff was friendly and welcoming.
"You can definitely get a sense of the care the staff put into this & the personal touch. Pumpkins are well priced too, hope to come back next year!"
