With so many eateries and different pubs in Essex, it can be difficult to decide which one to visit. One Essex pub has been recognised as a touch above the rest, having just won both a Michelin award and an AA Rosette award.

The Three Horseshoes Pub in Fordham, near Colchester, is a family-run, multi-award-winning Essex pub with "outstanding" service. Born out of a passion for great food and hospitality, the pub is committed to bringing its visitors the very best in local produce, friendly service, fantastic wines, and a great selection of local beers.

It is loved for its unique coffee shed, family-friendly atmosphere and the fact that you can take dogs in, too! The pub is so popular and well accredited, in fact, that it was named Pub of the Year by the East of England Tourism Awards 2023/24.

The awards from the Three Horseshoes don't stop there, however, as it is also now the proud recipient of both an AA Rosette and a Michelin Bib Gourmand award.

First introduced in 1956, the AA Rosette award scheme was the first nationwide scheme for assessing the quality of food served by restaurants and hotels - and has now reflected the stand-out experience of this Fordham pub. Similarly, the Michelin Bib Gourmand is an award given to restaurants that offer excellent value for money and serve great food at a reasonable price.

One reviewer said of the pub: "This is a great place out in the countryside. A small menu, but everything is cooked to perfection. The service is attentive but not intrusive. All in all, I couldn’t fault anything at all."

Another said: "Amazing dog-friendly place! Delicious food and excellent service. Stylish, with several seating areas. Highly recommended!"
