Three in hospital after serious Redruth bike and car crash

Three people have been rushed to hospital following a crash involving a motorbike and a car in Cornwall. The road was closed in both directions at East End, in Redruth, as reported earlier today following the collision.

It happened at around midday with the road reopening by 3.40pm. Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) has confirmed one passenger was trapped in the car.

Two casualties from the motorbike were also injured. All three have been taken to hospital, the extent of their injuries currently unknown.

Two of those involved in the collision were taken to hospital via land ambulance and a third was taken via air ambulance. The service said the incident is now in the hands of the police force.

A spokesperson for CFRS said: "Tolvaddon Fire Station attended this incident with a fire appliance and the rescue tender along with a Flexi Duty Officer. The incident involved a motorbike in collision with a car, with one casualty trapped in the car and two other casualties from the motorbike.

"Police were at the incident and closed the road as well as ambulance personnel who dealt with the casualties. Fire crew assisted and made the vehicle and scene safe.

"Two casualties were taken to hospital via land Ambulance and a third was taken via air ambulance. Crews have now left the scene and the incident is now in the hands of the police."

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Police were called at around 12pm on Saturday 26 October following reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and a car. The ambulance service was also called and a road closure put in place.

"Both the motorcycle rider and pillion were taken to hospital. Neither suffered any life-changing or life-threatening injuries. The road was reopened around 3.40pm."
