Three Met Office weather warnings in place for Wales this weekend
The Met Office has issued three weather warnings as Wales is set to have a weekend of severe ice, strong winds and heavy rain. Disruption from Storm Éowyn, which hit parts of the UK on Friday, is set to continue across the weekend while the storm weakens and clears to the northeast of the UK. Gusts of up to 93mph were recorded in Wales and hundreds of homes were left without power in Pembrokeshire.
The Met Office for Wales on Saturday reads: "A mainly dry day with lengthy sunny periods, but the odd shower is possible around western coasts with a band of heavier showers arriving later in the day. Freshening winds during the afternoon. Maximum temperature 4 °C."
There is a yellow weather warning for ice in place on Saturday from 3am until 10am. As skies clear following early morning showers, ice is likely to form on untreated surfaces and lead to some hazardous travelling conditions, according to forecasters.

The weather is set to become even more unsettled on Sunday, as sunny spells give way to cloudier conditions, with rain arriving from the south and west during the afternoon. The Met Office are also forecasting severe gales, which are likely to cause some disruption.
A yellow weather warning for wind is in place across all of Wales on Sunday from 8am until 3pm. The Met Office forecast reads: "A further period of strong south to southeasterly winds accompanied by some heavy rain is expected to move into the southwest on Sunday morning, then spread to other southern and western areas through the day. Winds are likely to gust 50 to 60 mph quite widely, and around some exposed coasts and hills gusts to 70 mph are possible."
There is also a yellow weather warning for rain for all of Wales from 8am on Sunday until 6am on Monday. The forecast reads: "A period of heavy rain is likely to affect central and southern England and much of Wales during Sunday morning followed by some heavy, thundery showers. Quite widely, 10-20 mm will fall, with locally nearer 30-50 mm over high ground, particularly over exposed south or southeast-facing upslopes."
The Met Office also warn that due to recent rain, these heavy showers may lead to some local flooding on Sunday and Monday.
