Scottish Water has issued an update as engineers work to restore supply in the Shawlands area following reports of burst water mains.

The public utility company has said it is continuing to respond to water supply issues in the G41 area of the city after a large underground pipe ruptured on Saturday, February 1, damaging three more pipes.

It is understood that workers are trying to repair the compromised sections of the network on St Andrews Drive, St Andrews Road, and Maxwell Drive.

Pollokshaws Road remains closed between Maxwell Road and Albert Drive for essential reinstatement work. The road will reopen once the area is safe. Traffic lights have also been installed on Maxwell Road to facilitate repairs.

Scottish Water has apologised for the disruption and said they are trying to restore supply as quickly as possible.

A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “We understand that some customers have been impacted several times since the initial burst, and we have teams actively managing pressure levels to protect the network and minimise further disruptions.

“We are committed to supporting those affected, and our customer care team is providing bottled water where needed while maintaining direct contact with our Priority Service Register customers to offer additional assistance.”
