Three people injured after car crushed under tractor

A car has been crushed underneath a tractor, leaving three people injured.

A picture from the scene shows the bonnet of the vehicle flattened and the windscreen completely smashed following a collision.

The tractor is resting on top of the car and one of the tractor's front wheels appears to be lodged in the windscreen.

The crash happened in Sunnyside Road, Coatbridge, North Lanarkshire, at about 10pm on Wednesday.

The trio, who were in the car, were taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment, while the tractor's driver was not hurt.

Police Scotland said that a 23-year-old man who was driving the car has been charged in connection with the incident.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said in a statement: "We received a report of a crash involving a car and a tractor on Sunnyside Road, Coatbridge, around 10pm on Wednesday, 28 December, 2022.

"The three occupants of the car were taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. The driver of the tractor was not injured."
