Three places to get the best Sunday roast in Britain
We all love a Sunday roast - it's one of the best things about being a Brit and getting to enjoy the delicacy on a drizzly Sunday afternoon with your nearest and dearest.
Most families say their recipe is the best, whether it's their take on a gravy, giant Yorkshire puddings or how to perfect the crispiest roast potatoes. Sometimes though, it's nice to head to your local pub or restaurant and have the whole thing cooked for you - after all, there's no washing up that way.
But where are the best places to get a good Sunday Roast in Lancashire and Cumbria? You needn't ponder this for too long as The Good Food Guide has announced its Top 50 Best Sunday Roasts in Britain, sponsored by Koffmann’s Potatoes and Tracklements.

According to them, the Sunday roast is 75% of their readers' favourite dish, so clearly it's a winner amongst the public. Categorised into regions of Britain, a number of Lancashire and Cumbria restaurants have been awarded the 'Best Sunday Roast' in the North West according to the Guide.
sōlō in Aughton has been named in the category for best Sunday roast - the only establishment in Lancashire named on the list. sōlō is run by chef Tim Allen, his first solo venture.
sōlō boasts a Michelin star and Tim described on the Michelin website as: "Having worked at various well-regarded restaurants around the country, Tim Allen brought plenty of experience to his first solo venture in this brightly decorated and warmly run converted pub. His contemporary, seasonally pertinent dishes draw their considerable flavour from top-notch ingredients – some are local and others are imported from France, such as the exceptional Landes guinea fowl."
Over in Cumbria, two establishments have been named on the Sunday roast list - Heft in Grange-over-Sands and The Black Bull in Sedbergh. Heft is run by Chef Kevin Tickle, who serves "modern British food using a wealth of locally reared and farmed produce in his dishes."
The Black Bull is run by husband and wife duo James Radcliffe and chef Nina Matsunaga, with the culinary head using her German and Japanese heritage, with James Ratcliffe bringing his influence from growing up in Ireby village in the Lune Valley.
