Three restaurants on our doorstep named in the UK's top 100 at National Restaurant Awards

Three restaurants in our region have been named in the UK's Top 100.

Aughton's Moor Hall restaurant has been awarded the third best restaurant in the country by the National Restaurant Awards for 2024. Sōlō, also in Aughton, and Manifest, in Liverpool, also made the prestigious list.

Manifest, in the Baltic Triangle, is up 16 places this year, making it to number 84 on the list. Speaking about the achievement, a spokesperson for Manifest said it left them 'feeling phenomenal.'

They added: "For our guests and followers who don’t know much about the awards, it’s voted for by fellow chefs, restaurateurs, writers, and forces that push in the industry. To make the list is already winning, to climb it from our back street in Liverpool is testament to our team. What a night."

The brainchild of Paul Durand and Charlotte Jones, Manifest is found in a converted warehouse on Watkinson Street. It serves a regularly changing menu with small plates hovering around the £11 mark and mains not breaking £30.

The National Restaurant Awards said: "What makes Manifest stand out from the crowd, however, is chef-patron Durand’s craftsmanship. Breads and oils are made in house as are preserves, pickles, ferments and brews that elevate dishes and breathe new life into classic combinations.

"Marinated heritage carrots are lifted with hazelnut and fermented cep while the combination of white strawberry, red pepper and tomato with a stuffed courgette flower brings welcome additional sweetness to a dish that can sometimes be too cloying."

Moor Hall made it to number 3 on the list. It was previously awarded Best Restaurant in England 202 and National Restaurant of the Year 2019 and 2021. Sōlō was ranked at number 52.
