Three schools make history by earning national award
Three primary schools have made history by being the first in the East Riding area to receive the Historical Association Quality Mark.
Beswick and Watton CEVC, Bishop Wilton CEVC, and Middleton on the Wolds CEVC Primary Schools have all earned the prestigious accolade for exceptional history teaching.
Elizabeth Harros, Executive Head Teacher, shared her pride: "We work really hard to give the children a wealth of extra curricula and enrichment activities and I’m delighted that the Historical Association has recognised this across the Wolds Federation of Schools.

"We help the children really understand how things were in the past through a range of enrichment activities."
The schools' innovative approach has seen children learning about historical events like the Great Fire of London in dynamic ways. For example, youngsters carried water in buckets up hills to understand the task faced by people during the fire.
They've also re-enacted significant moments from famous figures such as Amy Johnson with printed backdrops of old images helping the re-enactments.
Key Stage Two pupils also gained insight into the lives of sailors and marines by sleeping aboard HMS Belfast.
Councillor Victoria Aitken, the cabinet member for children, families and education, praised the initiative, saying: "Children learn and remember things the most when they are an active part of that learning experience.
"I’m sure the history lessons will be unforgettable memories for pupils at these primary schools. Well done to all involved!"
