Three teenagers arrested after 'assault' in Grimsby

Three teenagers are in police custody after an alleged assault in Grimsby yesterday.

Police were called shortly after 1pm to Haycroft Avenue, Grimsby, following reports that a man had sustained injuries in an alleged assault following an altercation in a shop on Cromwell Road.

He was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries, which are not thought to be life threatening. At the time of the incident, a witness told Grimsby Live they saw several police officers with riot shields and the entrance to the shop was later covered in police tape.

An investigation was later launched, resulting in three teenage boys being arrested on suspicion of assault. They remain in police custody at this time.

Detective Inspector Jayne Coutts said: “Investigations are underway and we would encourage anyone with information that may assist our enquiries to please come forward. We have arrested three teenage boys who are currently in custody and assisting with our enquiries.

“Those in the local area can expect to see an increased police presence over the coming days, both whilst we carry out enquiries and also to offer some reassurance.
