Three Tornadoes Cause 'Significant Damage' in Sioux Falls

Three tornadoes caused “significant” damage to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, on the night of Tuesday, September 10, local media reported.

At least 37 structures collapsed or now have “integrity issues” as a result of the storms, Fire Chief Brian Goodroad said at a press conference. A Red Cross shelter was opened for those displaced by the storm damage.

Local power supplier Xcel Energy said it had more than 450 employees working to restore power to Sioux Falls. Power was restored to 21,000 customers as of 4 pm on Wednesday and 5,500 were still without power, the company said.
