Three-vehicle A12 crash leaves man dead and road closed for more than five hours
A 58-year-old man has died following a crash on a major Essex A-road on Tuesday (October 22). Police and paramedics were called to the A12 northbound at Kelvedon shortly after 9.30am.
Three vehicles were involved in the crash, a a grey VW Polo, a black Mercedes E220 and a grey Mercedes CLA 200 - were in collision. Despite the efforts of paramedics, the Polo's driver died at the scene.
Essex Police said the man's family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. The A12 was closed for more than five hours before reopening to traffic shortly after 3pm.

A 21-year-old man, who was driving the black Mercedes, has been has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remains in police custody.
