A thug who strangled a man and proceeded to drag his unconscious body around on the ground has been jailed for 18 months. Sonny Watkinson, 36, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday, Monday November 25.

Watkinson pleaded guilty to an assault after he strangled a man at around 1.20am on November 18 2023 in the Platinum Lounge on Conway Street, Birkenhead, causing him to pass out. He was then seen to drag the unconscious 20-year-old victim around on the ground.

Watkinson was also handed a Criminal Behaviour Order for five years which prevents him from associating with certain people in public and entering the area where the attack took place, unless travelling through continuously in a vehicle.
