Salisbury Samaritans have partnered with The Oldie Magazine for a fundraising literary lunch at the Guildhall.

Every year, The Oldie takes a road show lunch within the UK, and this year, they will be visiting Salisbury and raising money for Salisbury Samaritans.

A ticket includes a three-course-meal with wine, and a panel of three speakers: writer, broadcaster and priest, Reverend Richard Coles; journalist and presenter Linda McDougall; and novelist Katie Hickman.

Profits will go to Salisbury Samaritans, a charity offering listening and support to those in times of emotional need.

Mandy d’Abo, 57, has been volunteering at Salisbury Samaritans for two and a half years, after losing friends to suicide.

She said: “It’s the best thing I have ever done in my life – it changed my life.

“We do have lots of people who are very dependent on us – it’s a safe space to be listened to and heard.”

The service is available 24/7, but requires around £100 a day to run, so events like these make the work of the Samaritans possible. To make a donation, visit the website here.

The lunch will run on Tuesday, June 11 at 1pm, and tickets are £69 per person. To book tickets, email reservations@theoldie.co.uk.
