Tiger Attack: Circus Trainer Killed In Mexico

A circus trainer has been mauled to death by a Bengal tiger during a live show in northern Mexico.

Alex Crispin Suarez, 35, was attacked as he performed his act in the town of Etchojoa, Sonora, on Saturday.

Amateur video of the attack showed the trainer circling two tigers and making the animals turn slowly while standing on low platforms.

On one pass, the tiger suddenly stops his spinning routine and reaches out and grabs the trainer around the legs.

Other circus employees immediately come to his aid, trying to drive the tiger off by hitting him with a metal stand.

But the animal refused to let go and savaged the trainer around the neck and upper body.

Panicked spectators then ran from the circus tent as the employees desperately tried to save the trainer.

Mr Suarez was taken to a nearby Red Cross Hospital, but died from massive blood loss.

The tiger has been locked inside a cage in the circus while authorities decide whether it should be destroyed.
