Tiger Woods schedule: Masters champion announces return to Japan for inaugural PGA Tour event

Tiger Woods will return to Japan to play in the inaugural Zozo Championship in October.

The event is the first official PGA Tour tournament to be held in Japan and will be played at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club near Tokyo.

“I’m excited to play in the inaugural ZOZO Championship in October, and return to Japan, one of my favorite countries," the Masters champion tweeted on Thursday morning. "It’s going to be a fun fall.”

Woods, 43, has not made an appearance in Japan since 2006 when, while chasing a second defence of his title, he lost a playoff to Padraig Harrington at the Dunlop Phoenix.

Having claimed a fifth green jacket and 15th major title at Augusta National earlier this month, Woods is keeping his 2019 schedule under wraps. It is expected that his next appearance will be at Wells Fargo Championship next month in preparation for the PGA Championship at Bethpage.
