Tik Tok famous Gateshead restaurant becomes five star rated pizza hot spot as diners flock
A hugely popular Gateshead restaurant that has been posted all over TikTok for its sought after and inventive creations, has just undergone a huge rebrand, with a new name, a new look and a totally different menu. And the drastic overhaul has already paid off, as five star reviews flood in.
Starting life as a much visited stall at Tynemouth Market, Cookies Freaks ended up being a big hit with celebrities like the Geordie Shore cast, before then having to adapt, like many other businesses, during the Covid pandemic, as food orders were available online.
Cookie Freaks, run by Macy Donoghue and dad Kieron, eventually set up a permanent base in Team Valley, with more and more customers flocking for viral sweet treats like its Dole Whip, a frozen dessert exclusively served at Disneyland and Walt Disney World since the 80s, which had customers flocking, as Cookie Freaks became the first place in the whole of the North East to serve it.

As successful and buzzed about as Cookie Freaks was, Macy and Kieron decided earlier this year that it was time for a change and now, after months of perfecting their recipes, Cookie Freaks has become Pizza Society, with loads of people flocking already to get a slice of the action.
Kieron told ChronicleLive that the decision to rebrand was based on a number of factors, including the cost of chocolate almost tripling in the last year, customer spending down as people tighten their belts and also just the fact that they wanted a new challenge. And it looks like the gamble has most definitely been worth it, as, since opening its doors as Pizza Society a few weeks ago, the new business has accumulated over 20 five star reviews on Google and the feedback on their pizzas has been amazing.
Macy and Kieron are confident that, with Pizza Society, they're offering something different for Gateshead by offering their pizzas by the slice, as well as the full 20 inches, with options including classic cheese for £12 and pepperoni and Nduja for £14. There are also delicious crust dipping pots like JD's Hot Honey and Garlic Mayo to have on the side for £1.
Like Cookie Freaks, Pizza Society continues to serve coffee and there are plans to bring back some of the sweet treats the original business was famous for.
*Pizza Society is open Tuesday to Friday from 11am to 2.30pm
