Tim Iroegbunam has said thank you and goodbye to Aston Villa as he prepares to complete his move to Premier League rivals Everton. Midfielder Iroegbunam arrived in the summer of 2021 from West Brom and enjoyed something of a first-team breakthrough under Steven Gerrard before featuring more prominently in the first team squad under Unai Emery.

Iroegbunam, who was born in Great Barr, is heading to Everton in a deal from which Villa will pocket in the region of £10m; he's heading to Goodison Park with Lewis Dobbin heading in the opposite direction in a separate deal. Villa need to raise funds to comply with the PSR rules before the end of this month and have had to consider offers for their young talent.

The 20-year-old made 19 first-team appearances for Villa and spent last season out on loan at Queens Park Rangers in the Championship, where he scored twice in 32 appearances. Iroegbunam, who celebrates his 21st birthday next Sunday, had three more years remaining on his Villa Park deal but as part of the overhaul this summer he has been allowed to leave in order to try and secure a more regular supply of Premier League football.

"After an amazing 3 years at @avfcofficial It is time to say goodbye," he posted on Instagram. "I have so much to thank everyone at this club for from making my Premier League debut to playing in Europe. It has truly been amazing.

"Everyone involved in this journey has been so good to me and I won’t forget it. It was an honour to call myself a Villan. To my teammates, coaches and to you fans. You will all be missed! Lots of love, Tim Iroegbunam."
