Time for a Nap - Colorful Bobtail Squid Burrows Into Sand

An Australian diver captured the adorable moment when an eye-catching bobtail squid buried itself underneath the sand in waters just off the Mornington Peninsula, as it settled in for a nap.

In this video, taken by underwater photographer Jules Casey off the Victoria coast, the squid is seen shoveling sand over its head and making sure its entire body is hidden from view.

According to biointeractive.org, bobtail squids are nocturnal animals and typically burrow in the sand during the day and remain hidden as they sleep.

Casey often posts footage of what she sees below the waves to her OneBreathDiver Instagram account, where she has over 90,000 followers.
