Timelapse Footage Shows Smoke Billowing From Wildfire in Yosemite

A wildfire burning in California’s Yosemite National Park had spread across 2,720 acres acres by the evening of July 11, fire authorities said.

Timelapse footage from ALERTWildfire shows activity from the Washburn Fire from various viewpoints on July 11.

The fire was 22 percent contained Monday night, Yosemite Fire and Aviation reported. Some 545 firefighters were working to contain the blaze.

According to officials, firefighters are prioritizing the protection of the Mariposa Grove of giant sequoia trees, some of which are thousands of years old. Credit: ALERTWildFire via Storyful
