Timelapse Shows Dark Shelf Cloud Over Kennedy Space Center Ahead of Planned SpaceX Launch

The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Brevard County, Florida, including the area near the Kennedy Space Center on Wednesday, May 27, ahead of SpaceX’s planned launch of the Crew Dragon spacecraft.

Timelapse video filmed by photographer Ryan Bale shows a shelf cloud over the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral a few hours before the planned launch of the SpaceX Crew Dragon.

Wednesday’s launch was set to send NASA astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley on a test flight aboard the SpaceX Crew Dragon as part of the Commercial Crew Program — “a partnership to develop and fly human space transportation systems,” according to NASA. Credit: Ryan Bale via Storyful
