Timothée Chalamet Oscars snub has fans outraged! Actor misses out on Supporting Actor nomination

Timothée Chalamet fans were left baffled after he missed out on the Supporting Actor gong at this year’s Oscars.

The 23-year-old actor had been tipped to land a nomination for his role as Nic Sheff in drama Beautiful Boy, but he lost out to Adam Driver (BlacKkKlansman), Mahershala Ali (Green Book), Sam Elliott (A Star is Born), Richard E. Grant (Can You Ever Forgive Me?) and Sam Rockwell (Vice).

Fans were left outraged at the snub, highlighting how Chalamet has received nominations at ceremonies including the Golden Globes, the SAG Awards, the AACTA International Awards, the Hollywood Film Awards and the Satellite Awards.

But Kumail Nanjiani and Tracee Ellis Ross failed to read out his name during Tuesday morning's nominations, leaving many claiming he has been “robbed”.

One user wrote: “Timothée didn’t loose 20 pounds giving such an intensely emotional, difficult, powerful performance for you to rob him like this UNBELIEVABLE.”

Another commented: “I’m sorry but I think you forgot to mention @RealChalamet.”

A third added: “Sorry there must be a mistake, I can't read "Timothée Chalamet"...”

Last year, Chalamet received a Leading Actor nomination for his role in romantic drama Call Me By Your Name, but he missed out to Gary Oldman for his role as Winston Churchill in Darkest Hour.

Despite missing out at this year's Oscars, Chalamet is nominated for a BAFTA for his role in the heart-breaking film, which follows a father and his son in a story of survival and recovery as they cope with addiction.

Bradley Cooper has also been snubbed for Best Director, in a decision branded “inexcusable” by fans. The Hollywood star was expected to be nominated for the gong for A Star is Born, which marked his directorial debut.

He was recognised for Leading Actor for his role in the adaptation, while his co-star Lady Gaga received a Leading Actress nod.

Netflix hit Roma and historical comedy The Favourite lead this year's nominations with 10 each, including the coveted Best Picture.

The 91st Academy Awards will take place at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre on February 24.
