Timothée Chalamet's Bold Pink Suit and Custom Cartier Necklace at “Wonka” Premiere Are a Stylish Treat
The actor, who is the film’s titular character, walked the carpet in a Tom Ford womenswear suit and a bespoke necklace with nearly 2,000 gemstones
Timothée Chalamet made a sweet appearance on the red carpet for the Wonka world premiere in London.
The 27-year-old actor — who stars in the film (out Dec. 15) as Willy Wonka — commanded attention in a colorful Tom Ford suit (pulled from the label’s Spring/Summer 2024 womenswear collection) that was traditional in its tailoring, yet bold in its magenta colorway. A bonus: the designer item looked like a high-fashion take on Wonka's original purple overcoat.
Chalamet also exposed a hint of skin, deciding to wear nothing under his jacket and completed the look with square-toe Chelsea boots in a fitting chocolate-brown hue.
The bling around his neck came courtesy of Cartier, who designed a custom necklace made up of 964 emeralds, rubellites, pink tourmalines and blue opals and a white gold base consisting of close to 1,000 precious stones, according to British Vogue. It also took 450 hours to make.
Chalamet, who is an ambassador of the jeweler, worked with Marie-Laure Cérède, creative director of jewelry and watchmaking, on the bespoke accessory, which, as noted by British Vogue, was made to fit precisely to the contour of his throat. “It’s beyond anything I could have dreamt,” he told the outlet.
Tuesday’s premiere, held at Royal Festival Hall, will not be the last time fans get a glimpse at Chalamet’s dazzling necklace. The one-of-a-kind piece will make its way across jewelry exhibits around the world as a part of The Cartier Collection.

Chalamet stopped on the carpet to open up about filming the movie, which serves as the prequel to Roald Dahl's 1964 children's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and the challenges that came with it.
"The challenges were just to live and love the tone of it," he told PEOPLE, while speaking to a group of reporters. "I realized everything I've worked on [has had a] grounded seriousness to it, and here I had to loosen up and play, kind of like I did in high school, but I hadn't done in 10 years or something. So, that was the learning curve. But once it was in full swing, then it felt like we were cookin.' "

Chalamet always delivers with his sartorial choices, and while some will say he’s a rule breaker when it comes to fashion, the trendsetter himself doesn’t actually adhere to any “rules,” as he explained to British Vogue.
Earlier in the Wonka press tour, at the movie’s premiere in Tokyo, the Academy Award nominee rocked a custom leather Prada top and pants splashed in a vibrant lilac shade. He accessorized with another scintillating Cartier necklace and white boots.
Even his airport fashion has reached a new level of cool. A couple of days prior to the event, Chalamet turned Japan’s Narita International Airport into his own catwalk as he greeted fans in an all-black look featuring a floor-length collared coat. And we bet Chalamet’s ensemble would’ve been approved — and possibly even styled by — his current flame Kylie Jenner, who modeled her own black faux leather jacket from her brand Khy in October.
