Tin Star: Tim Roth drunk, angry and seeking revenge in new series

Tim Roth is to star as an angry police chief deployed to the Canadian Rockies in Tin Star, a new series from the makers of Broadchurch and Humans.

Dramatic mountain landscapes provide the backdrop for the new 10-part Sky Atlantic series.

Helmed by British director Rowan Joffe, the series stars Roth and Mad Men's Christina Hendricks.

"As a movie screenwriter I saw Tin Star as an opportunity to author an epic piece of cinema in the long-form series format," Joffe said.

"This means vast landscapes, classic themes, complex characters on dangerous journeys - and performances of the highest calibre."

The series sees Roth's police chief confronted with the brutal and mysterious murder of a member of his family.

His obsessive quest to find the truth drives a story about love, corruption, grief and revenge.

Tin Star will be Sky Atlantic's fourth original serialised drama to premiere this year.

It follows Idris Elba and Freida Pinto's Guerrilla, the recent return of Twin Peaks, and the crime caper Riviera - which opens in mid-June.

"We know our original content is highly valued and a reason why customers choose and stay with Sky," said Gary Davey, the company's Managing Director of Content.

Tin Star will be available on Sky Atlantic and Now TV later this year.
