It’s the end of the week again; snow is in the air, the pubs are full, and the blissful feeling of temporary calm is back.

So what better way to celebrate the start of the weekend than by reading this week’s good news? Let’s begin!

Griffin’s fur-ever home

This is Griffin, a blind pooch that’s been given a second shot at life after being adopted from Battersea by a London family.

The fluffy fella found his furever family – Karen and Rob – after a rough start to life, who have said, “Griffin is such a kind, affectionate, and sweet-natured dog and he has made our house a home again after losing our 15-year-old springer spaniel last year.”

The cocker spaniel was taken into animal-welfare charity Battersea as a stray and staff have spent the past few months building his confidence, to make him ready for his new home.

Making Tina Turner proud (Mary)

The Australian Parliament was treated to a special appearance this week – the deputy leader of the Liberal Party dressed up as none other than musical icon Tina Turner.

Sussan Ley was welcomed to the House of Representatives “with some nervousness” by the Speaker on Tuesday (March 7), saying, “I know at least one of the questions you’re asking, Mr Speaker, and yes this is for a dare, a dare for a very worthwhile cause.

“At a cancer support fundraiser held in Griffith last Friday my song partner, Glenn Starr, from the local Triple M Breakfast, challenged the 700-strong crowd to reach a $100,000 target, but only if I took Tina to Parliament House.”

Ms Ley also thanked the communities who raised the money, as well as the Speaker.

Lizzo plays Cupid

This week, Lizzo stopped her Glasgow concert to help a couple get engaged - and it was as sweet as it sounds.

The Good as Hell singer spotted a fan gesturing to her to take their phone, which had the message, “Ask my brother’s boyfriend to marry him,” written on it.

The crew eventually held a microphone up to the boyfriend while she held the phone, which had the man who was about to be proposed to on the line.

After Ryan responded: “Yes,” Lizzo screamed to the crowd: “Can we get a f*****g yes?”

A magic roundabout

It has been announced that work will be starting soon to create a “magic roundabout” that will improve the safety of thousands of cyclists on a key route into central London.

Segregated lanes and traffic lights for cyclists will be installed at Lea Bridge roundabout, allowing for cyclists to navigate the roundabout with much more ease.

Will Norman, London’s walking and cycling commissioner, said:  “These crucial improvements will help us to continue to build upon the boom in cycling we’ve recently seen, helping all cyclists keep safe on the roads.”
