Tina Turner has opened up about losing her son Craig to suicide earlier this year, saying she has “no idea what pulled him down”.

Craig was found dead in July at his Los Angeles home, aged 59 .

And now Turner has spoken about Craig’s death, confessing that she “doesn’t know what took him to the edge” and that he had recently found love.

Speaking to BBC News, Turner said: “I still don't know what took him to the edge because, at that stage, he had said to me that he had never met a woman that he felt that way about.

“He was bringing her to meet me [for] his birthday in August. He had decorated his apartment, that I bought him years ago. He had gotten a new job with a prominent real estate company in California, [which] he was very happy with.

"I have no idea what pulled him down, except something that followed him with loneliness. I think it was something with being alone.”

Turner, 78, posted about her “saddest moment as a mother” in July when she scattered her son’s ashes in California.

The songstress uploaded a photo of her holding a rose over the side of a boat out at sea, along with an emotional tribute to her late child.

Turner wrote: “My saddest moment as a mother. On Thursday, July 19, 2018, I said my final goodbye to my son, Craig Raymond Turner, when I gathered with family and friends to scatter his ashes off the coast of California.

“He was fifty-nine when he died so tragically, but he will always be my baby.”
