If you were out enjoying the Cotswolds sunshine this week, you might have accidentally witnessed the marriage of English rapper, Tinie Tempah – or at the very least, noticed some of his guests in the local supermarket.

The musician and fashion designer quietly married his girlfriend in a church ceremony at St Peter's R C Church in the town of Cirencester, on Thursday. The big day might have avoided the headlines had it not been for some eagle-eyed locals, who reported the events to Gloucestershire Live.

Lisa Mckie, who owns the Sunflowers pre-school, said: "It was a complete surprise!” She discovered Tinie Tempah dressed all in white on her doorstep asking to use the loo and let him in. It was only afterwards that she realised who had been in her bathroom.

"I rent the hall from the church and this morning the priest came round and told us there was a big celebrity wedding happening.

"We have set up the garden to play in. We said 'would you like us to change spaces to play?' but the priest said 'no not at all let the children watch and listen to the singing.”

And singing there was. Onlookers reported that a gospel choir could be heard during the ceremony.

The always dapper Tempah – real name Patrick Okogwu – wore a white suit, shirt and bow-tie.

Father Isidore, the priest who conducted the service, told the BBC, "It wasn't a secret marriage. They just wanted to keep it as private as possible and just for family and friends.

"They're devout Catholics and really lovely down to earth people and it was a beautiful wedding."

There’s been a number of low-key weddings in the last couple of weeks. Apart from Sophie Turner’s South of France bash, Rachel Riley and Zoe Kravitz have both found time to tie the knot with their respective partners.

Lisa Mckie added: "The security drivers informed us who the music star was - Tinie Tempah.

"It was a really happy family wedding with lots of love and warmth - we were very lucky to be able to watch this secret event.”

The South London musician quietly announced the arrival of his baby daughter at the end of last year with a post on Instagram. The now deleted post (in fact Tempah has deleted all his old posts) was captioned “Bringing home this sweet one just in time for Christmas. Merry Christmas everyone.”
