A charming market town in Shropshire has been recognized for having some of the best food in the UK, according to a survey by Which? Travel. The survey asked over 9,000 people to rate the food and drink offerings in their favourite inland towns and villages.

The historic market town of Ludlow topped the list with the nation's best-rated food and drink. This picturesque place was the only inland location to receive a five-star rating for food.

Home to nearly 500 listed buildings, the thriving medieval town was once described by poet John Betjeman as “the loveliest town in England.” To complement its picture postcard looks, Ludlow also has a thriving culinary scene which focuses on finely crafted recipes using fresh, local ingredients, across a wide range of eateries.

Visitors to the town have rated The Old Downton Lodge the best in Ludlow according to Tripadvisor, while Vaughan’s Sandwich Bar leads for cafes. The Boyne Arms is a highly rated gastropub, and CSONS, a cafe by the river, is another popular spot.
