Tiverton Town Council’s Climate and Resilience Committee is calling on residents and organisations to take an active role in shaping the town’s emergency response.

The upcoming meeting aims to unite the community to explore ways to support one another during crises.
The meeting will take place on Wednesday, January 29, at 6.30pm in the Town Hall.
“We want as many different groups from the community to attend as everyone has something to offer in an emergency situation, whether it be a venue, equipment, resources, skills, or volunteers. If you feel you or your organisation has anything, however insignificant, we’d like to hear from you,” said Jason Lejeune, Deputy Chair of the Climate Change and Resilience Committee.
This event will serve as the first of several planned meetings to develop the town’s emergency preparedness strategy. Cllr Lejeune, alongside Committee Chair Cllr Chris Berry, has been working with Mid Devon District Council and Devon Communities Together to formulate an effective response plan. Representatives from the Police, Fire Services, and Devon County Council are also confirmed to be attending.
The meeting is strictly limited to 60 attendees on a first-come, first-served basis, with around 40 tickets currently remaining. Those interested in attending are encouraged to register online at www.tinyurl.com/tivemergmeeting to secure their place.
“This is the first meeting, and we do plan on having further meetings in the future as the plan develops,” Cllr Lejeune confirmed.
For those unable to attend but who wish to contribute to the emergency plan, Cllr Lejeune encourages individuals and organisations to get in touch, either to offer support, resources, or stay informed on future updates.
Attendees can expect free tea and coffee as they participate in shaping the town’s response to emergencies.
