Todd Cantwell cleared of Rangers sins as social media cynics told what is REALLY happening behind the scenes
Blackburn Rovers' star Lewis Travis has leapt to the defence of Todd Cantwell amid the swirls that surrounded the end of his Rangers career.
The playmaker joined the English Championship side on deadline day after former boss Philippe Clement dropped the star from the first-team plans following a transfer request. After making the move to Ewood Park, Cantwell batted away suggestions that he had refused to play for club having been dropped to the B team by the Belgian boss.
The decision to leave the Scottish Premiership behind came amid a series of social media posts by the 26-year-old that raised the eyebrows of the Rangers' support - but midfielder Travis has leapt to the defence of his new teammate. The 26-year-old insists he has seen none of the red flags doing that have swirled online since his arrival at Blackburn.
He told the Lancashire Telegraph: "We have got some great new additions. The likes of Todd, Pape (Gueye), Yuki (Ohashi), Amario (Cozier-Dubbery).
"They have all come in and they are raring to go in training. We have a great core of players there. Everyone wants to win and I think this season, we can do anything.
"You hear a lot online about things but he doesn't strike me as that person. He has come in and he is very hard-working, a down-to-earth lad. The conversations I have had with him, he wants to play football and do well. He has shown that already in training so I am sure when his chance comes, he will take it."
