A toddler who was found dead on a park swing as his mother pushed him had been there for TWO DAYS, a medical examiner has said.

The lifeless body of three-year-old Ji’Aire Lee was found in La Plata, Maryland by police, after reports that a woman had been pushing a child in a swing for ‘several hours’.

But now, a medical examiner has ruled that the youngster died of dehydration and hypothermia after he was there for 48 hours – and his death has been classified as homicide.

Police were initially called to Wills Memorial Park on May 22, the Charles County Sheriff’s Office has said.

It was there that they found the boy’s mother, 24-year-old Romechia Simms, who is homeless and suffers from mental health problems, pushing her son.

And while there was no clear signs of trauma on the youngster’s body, a medcial examiner ruled his dead was a homicide.

Authorities believe that Simms and her son first went to the park at 11.15am on May 20 – a whole two days before he was discovered.

Vonteshia Simms, the child’s grandmother, said: ‘Romechia would never harm my grandson in any type of way.

‘You know, I just believe she had some type of mental illness, some type of mental break that came upon her where she wasn’t able to get herself out of that situation.

The child’s father had filed for sole custody just weeks before he died.
