One of the wackiest gadgets on show at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas this week is the iPotty - a hi-tech new spin on toilet training.

The iPotty, made by CTA Digital, does not have a paired app - instead, toddlers are expected to entertain themselves using games and apps on iPad.

There are also various potty-training apps already available on iPad.

The $40 gadget comes with a splash-guard sheet to protect the iPad.

It will go on sale in America in March via Amazon.com.

"It's novel to a lot of people but we've gotten great feedback from parents who think it'd be great for training," said Camilo Gallardo of makers CTA Digital in an interview with Associated Press.
