'I told my sister her baby's name sounds like a dog and now she won't talk to me'
Choosing a baby's name can be a minefield, and it's a given that not everyone will fall in love with the name you pick.
However, when one woman candidly shared her thoughts on the unique name her sister had chosen, she was met with fury. The sister branded her "angry" and accused her of being "disrespectful" to the child, as the name held significant meaning for her and her partner.
The woman confessed that upon hearing the little boy's name, she couldn't help but "laugh", only to be immediately questioned by her sister about what she found so humorous.

Seeking advice, the woman turned to Reddit's 'Am I The A**hole' forum, questioning if she was in the wrong for suggesting her sister reconsider the name she'd given her son.
She posted: "My sister had a baby. I'm happy for her. Her baby's name is Ruff. It's Ruff. It sounds like a dog. I thought she was joking and laughed. I was wrong."

"She asked me why I was laughing. I said it sounded like a dog barking. 'Ruff ruff? ' I thought we were laughing, but she got mad. She was angry."
Her sister took offence, insisting that the name had "meaning to her and her husband" because they are fans of "love an obscure video game character".
Despite this, the woman cautioned her sister that while she has the right to "name her child whatever she wants", the name might lead to difficulties at school due to its canine connotations.
"She won't return my texts or calls. My mom says I should have kept my mouth shut. Am I the only one seeing this? " she questioned.
In the comments, support came her way with one person stating: "Okay, yeah, you could have handled it better but that's a ridiculous name for a child. I'm already cringing at the jokes that will be coming once he's older. 'Hi, my name is Ruff'. 'Oh, is that because your parents were doing it doggy-style when you were conceived? '".
Another chimed in: "Along with a rousing chorus of 'Who let the dogs out'."
While someone else commented: "God help that poor boy if he's in any kind of schooling but homeschooling".
