Tom Cruise may have broken his ankle while filming Mission: Impossible – Fallout – but it hasn’t stopped him planning more daredevil stunts.

The US star, 56, was reunited with his leading ladies in Paris for the premiere of the eagerly anticipated film, and took a moment to eye up the Eiffel Tower for a potential stunt.

“I’d do a base jump off there,” he told reporters.

The new film sees Cruise flying a helicopter, jumping between buildings and driving a motorbike at 120mph down Paris’ Avenue de l’Opéra.

Asked what he thinks when he embarks on the stunts, he replied: “Oh shit.”

Cruise was all smiles as he waved to fans who lined the red carpet in the hope of meeting the Hollywood star on Thursday night.

Wearing his signature aviator sunglasses, he took time to pose for selfies and sign autographs before working the cameras with his co-stars Alix Benezech, Angela Bassett, Michelle Monaghan, Rebecca Ferguson and Vanessa Kirby in front of the Eiffel Tower.

Simon Pegg, Henry Cavill and director Christopher McQuarrie were also in attendance.

Cruise shot scenes from the upcoming film in the French capital and told reporters the best thing about shooting in France is the “food, the locations, the people.”

The latest instalment in the action-fuelled franchise saw Cruise break his ankle after running and jumping between two buildings in London.

He recently revealed footage of himself pulling his body up the wall after breaking the bone and continuing to run.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show he said: “I didn't want to do [the stunt] again. I knew it was broken and I just said ‘Ugh,’ and I ran past the camera. We got the shot, it’s in the movie. That profile shot, both those shots, are in the movie.”

Mission: Impossible – Fallout is slated for UK cinema release on July 25
