Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes Divorce Finalised

The divorce of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes has been made final, court records show.

Papers filed in New York City indicate the case was closed on Monday.

The pair said in July they had reached an agreement less than two weeks into their headline-dominating divorce case.

Legal proceedings over the divorce, cited to be based on "irreconcilable differences", were wrapped up in just seven weeks.

Their lawyers and representatives have not released any further details.

The Hollywood couple, who have a six-year old daughter, Suri, released a statement last month saying: "We are committed to working together as parents to accomplish what is in our daughter Suri's best interests.

"We want to keep matters affecting our family private and express our respect for each other's commitment to each of our respective beliefs and support each other's roles as parents."

The news comes at a sad time for Cruise, who was last week busy researching the sequel to Top Gun at a naval base with Tony Scott, two days before the director jumped to his death in LA at the weekend.

It is thought that Suri will be mostly based with Katie in New York with visits by Tom.

Mother and daughter are currently living in an apartment located in Manhattan.

Details of their out of court settlement are unknown but it's thought Cruise will remain in control of a \$30m (£19m) Bel Air mansion, and Holmes will take control of a \$3m Montecito home.

Last week, delivery trucks were photographed leaving the home the couple shared in Beverly Hills, reportedly removing Holmes' belongings for storage.

She is currently preparing her fashion label Holmes & Yang's New York Fashion Week show.
