Dust off your wedding hats and dig out that old fascinator because Tom Daley and Dustin Lance Black are engaged.

Yes, that is the sound of our hearts turning into big piles of marshmallow, thanks for asking.
Following in Benedict Cumberbatch’s footsteps (and Geri Halliwell’s, for that matter), the Olympic diver and his fiancé Dustin registered their engagement in The Times.
Sitting in the Births, Marriages and Deaths section, their announcement read: “The engagement is announced between Tom, son of Robert and Debra Daley of Plymouth, and Lance, son of Jeff Bisch of Philadelphia and Anne Bisch of Lake Providence.”
The couple have been dating for two years, with Tom revealing their relationship when he came out in an inspirational and brave YouTube video.

Speaking in the 2013 video, he said: “In spring this year my life changed massively when I met someone, and they make me feel so happy, so safe and everything just feels great. That someone is a guy.”
Although he was ‘taken by surprise’ when he fell for Dustin, Tom has said that it was ‘love at first sight’, and that it ‘just felt right’.
In 2014, Tom, who recently secured his place at the 2016 Rio Olympics, spoke to Attitude magazine about their relationship, explaining that he didn’t think his coming out was newsworthy as it shouldn’t ‘matter who you choose to be in a relationship with’.

He said: “I also understand that it is still news. I think we live in a society that is far more accepting than it was five or ten years ago, but we’ve still got a way to go before people no longer assume you’re in a heterosexual relationship.
“Family is something that has always been really important to me and yes, at some point I would love to marry and have kids.”
If you didn’t know, Dustin is a LGBT rights activist and an American screenwriter, director, and producer with an Academy Award for ‘Milk’ under his belt.

The couple celebrated their two year anniversary in March, with Dustin writing on Facebook: “Two years ago we took a selfie just after meeting… the very moment my life changed forever. Happy Anniversary my love.”
Switchboard patron Tom shared the selfie on Instagram, captioning it: “2 years ago I met my [frog] and my life changed forever! Thank you for making these past 2 years so special.”
