Former bachelor pad of Tokyo 2020 Olympic Gold Medal winner Tom Daley has gone on sale today for close to £1 million.

10m platform diver Daley bought the two-bedroom apartment with hot tub in Southwark at the height of the London market in 2014 for £965,000.

Following a fluctuating property market in the centre of the capital through the Brexit era and the COVID-19 pandemic, the price has now been set slightly higher at £999,999 and is on sale through Dexters. It has, however, lost value since Daley flogged it.

Daley and his husband Oscar-winning film maker Dustin Lance Black sold their then new-build home in Borough in 2018 for £1.08 million (according to Land Registry) in preparation for having a baby, and moved into a characterful warehouse conversion which is also in Southwark - a 10 minute walk away.

He tweeted in 2018, when the flat was previously for sale: “So many memories from this place. Hopefully, it will find a lovely new owner.”

The stylish urban apartment is open plan with as many bathrooms as bedrooms, covering 962 sq ft within the exclusive Atollo Building — a futuristic-looking complex close to London Bridge Station, the Shard and the world-famous foodie hub of Borough Market.

Accustomed to heights, the third floor pad has south-, east- and west-facing views of London rooftops with floor-to-ceiling sliding doors that bathe the place in natural light.

There are three terraces, one covered in Astro turf in case the Olympic hockey team pop over, which all add 800 sq ft to the property. Both bedrooms lead to outside space.

Daley is not Southwark’s only famous resident: Golden Globe actress Ruth Wilson formerly rented her parents’ bolthole in SE1 and lives in a loft-style apartment nearby. Fashion designed Zandra Rhodes has also lived on Bermondsey Street since the 1990s and Norman Ackroyd, an artist and printmaker, is a long-time local too.

“This property will be great for a couple or family looking for a spacious and tranquil home right in the heart of the city,” says Tom Johnston of Dexters. He will be hoping he sells it faster than an armstand back triple somersault.
