Tom Hiddleston In ‘Advanced Talks’ For James Bond?

A new report claims to have confirmation that Tom Hiddleston may be set to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond.

Rumours that the Loki actor might be a strong contender for the next 007 have intensified in recent weeks, and now Birth Movies Death report that sources close to Hiddleston confirm he is “in advanced talks to take over the role of James Bond from Daniel Craig.”

It is stressed that “no official offer has been made - yet,” but that Hiddleston “very much wants the job.”

This is of course hardly the first report we’ve seen on the matter, but BMD seem extremely confident in their sources. But even if it’s all on the level, this doesn’t necessarily mean Hiddleston is a lock for the next Bond.

For one thing, it’s still far from confirmed that Daniel Craig has quit the series, although some outlets have taken Craig’s just-announced casting in Steven Soderbergh’s ‘Logan Lucky’ as proof that he’s done with 007.

It also seems fair to assume that, even if Hiddleston is indeed in talks with Eon Productions, it’s almost certain he won’t be the only actor they’re talking to.

We should also note that the future of the Bond franchise overall is a little uncertain at present, as MGM’s contract with Sony to co-distribute the films (which began on ‘Casino Royale’) ended with ‘Spectre.’

Sony are said to be keen to renew the contract, but they are said to have strong competition from Warner Bros.

In any case, best to treat these Hiddleston reports as a rumour for now. But with all this intense speculation, surely some official word from Eon can’t be too far away.
