Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas has signed a new deal at the club and will spend the season on loan at Fulham.

The Blues announced on Thursday that Kalas, 24, has put pen to paper on a four-year deal and will now spend the 2017-18 campaign on loan at Championship side Fulham.

The defender played a key role at the heart of Fulham's defence as the club finished in sixth place last term.

He made 36 league appearances, and scored one goal against Huddersfield Town, as Slavisa Jokanovic’s reached the Championship play-off semi-finals.

Vice Chairman and Director of Football Operations, Tony Khan, expressed his happiness at bringing Kalas back to the club.

He told Fulham's official website: "It's a pleasure to welcome Tomas Kalas back to the Fulham Football Club.

"We appreciate Tomas so much after the way that he battled for us last season, demonstrating not only tremendous skill but also great heart and determination.

"We're very excited to have him here again as one of us as we prepare for our next battle, and what we hope will be a great season! COYW!"
