Tomb Raider trailer shows Alicia Vikander in action as Lara Croft following 'Photoshop fail' poster

The first trailer for the new Tomb Raider film has arrive showing Alicia Vikander in action as video game heroine Lara Croft.

Titled Tomb Raider, the latest adaptation of the long-running video game franchise - which began in 1996 - sees the Swedish Oscar-winner take over from Angelina Jolie who played the character in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and sequel The Cradle of Life (2003).

This film will focus on Croft's origin story with the character far from the seasoned adventurer gamers now know her as.

Vikander - who won the 2016 Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role in The Danish Girl - stars alongside Dominic West, Daniel Wu and Walton Goggins (The Hateful Eight, HBO comedy Vice Principals) who'll play the film's chief villain.

The new trailer followed the film's official poster which drew attraction for a Photoshop 'fail' which saw Vikander given a rather long neck.

Confused film fans expressed their confusion over the poster on social media.
