Lara Croft dodges collapsing crypts and takes aim at her prey in a teaser for the Tomb Raider reboot.

The full trailer for Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander's debut as Lara Croft arrives on Tuesday (September 19), but a brief preview makes Lara's origin story look action-packed.

Carrying the tagline "Her legend begins", director Roar Uthaug's revamp of the video game franchise will explore how Lara became a globe-trotting adventurer. Watch the clip below:

Vikander recently differentiated her incarnation of the character from Angelina Jolie's famed version by clarifying that the Lara we'll meet next year hasn't quite mastered her survival skills quite yet.

"She has all the fierce, tough, curious, intelligent traits," Alicia told Entertainment Weekly. "But we've stripped away all of her experience. She hasn't gone on an adventure just yet."

The actress also recently told Digital Spy that she viewed the new Tomb Raider as an opportunity to put a fresh spin on a beloved character.

"This is quite a different take on it," she promised.

When we meet Lara, she's working a day job in London when a chance clue leads her on a worldwide quest to find the archaeologist father (Dominic West) she'd assumed was long dead.

The Square Enix adaptation will also star Justified's Walton Goggins as the nefarious Father Mathias Vogel, while Into the Badlands' Daniel Wu will stand by Lara's side in her search for her father.

Tomb Raider will crash into UK and US cinemas on Friday, March 16, 2018.
