Black Friday, the biggest shopping day in the calendar, is here and shoppers across the UK are embarking on their Christmas shopping.

But buying on Black Friday is not always the savviest move. In previous years the price of the most popular Christmas presents have actually fallen in the run up to Christmas.

This year may be no different with retailers, which are facing more competition than ever, running special sales over the whole of the festive season.

Fitbit Blaze

The Blaze is the latest FitBit model and tracks steps, distance, calories burned, floors climbed as well as active minutes.

It uses multi-sport tracking to track runs, cardio, cross-training and biking and also has a heart tracker.

Automatically record workouts to your dashboard and go virtually all week without charging - as this gadget has a long battery life which lasts upto five days.

Cheapest please to buy: Onedigitals.co.uk currently has the cheapest price at £114.40 and also offers free shipping. If you would prefer to visit a physical store John Lewis, Currys and Boots are all stocking the FitBit Blaze for a few pounds more at £119.99.

A popular and fun home trend this year, the light board emits a comforting glow and lets you personalise your own message. It's easy to move around your home and is suitable to display anywhere in your home. 

It is battery operated and comes with letters and symbols which you can slide in to create your messages. 

Cheapest place to buy: Asda has a version for £10 although it does not come with batteries. Prices at other stores go all the way up to £19.99 for a similar product.

Pitted as the novelty board game of 2017, kids and adults alike are bound to have a laugh with Toilet Trouble.

Players take turns spinning the toilet paper roll, flushing the toilet handle, and hoping they don't get sprayed with water. The number that turns up on the paper roll spinner dictates how many times each player must flush. Players are safe if they hear the flushing sound, but no water is sprayed. 

Cheapest place to buy:Toilet Trouble is out of stock at Toys R Us and Tesco but Smyths has it for £17.99 on a 3 for 2 board games deal, which could be the best value if you're planning on buying other games.

Despite a number of scathing reviews, L.O. L. Surprise is proving to be a sell-out toy this Christmas and claims to provide the ultimate "unboxing experience".

Kids can unwrap the layers to find 50 never before seen surprises inside with exclusive dolls and accessories. 

Cheapest place to buy: L.O.L Big Surprise is currently out of stock at Smyths, Tesco, The Entertainer and the Toy Shop. Argos has it for £59.99 but stock is sold out at some stores. There are no discounts currently available, probably due to the exceptionally high demand. 

Hatchimals Surprise

Hatchimals were the sell-out Christmas present of last year - and they're back for 2017. The toy is essentially an egg from which a furry animal hatches, which will interact with you. Unlike regular Hatchimals the surprise edition births twin fuzzy animals...

The hatching process takes between seven to 15 minutes and requires the player to coax the creature out with words and interaction. After it hatches, children can help it develop, teaching it to walk, talk, dance, play games and other fun activities.

Cheapest place the buy: Prices have been falling for this item at a number of retailers. Argos has it for £54.99, down from £74.99.Tesco has the Hatchimals Surprise for £59.99, down from £69.99.
