The top 10 trending British seaside destinations right now, according to Airbnb

Many of us are opting for a staycation this summer to one of the picturesque locations or coastal gems the UK has to offer.

Airbnb has revealed the top 10 trending British seaside destinations across the country which are making a welcome comeback.

Topping the list is Colwyn Bay, after seeing the biggest rise in Brits booking homes on the platform. The Welsh seaside resort, known for its famous beaches, is in Conwy County Borough on the north coast of Wales, overlooking the Irish Sea.

Popular attractions include the conservation Welsh Mountain zoo, with panoramic views over Snowdonia and the picturesque North Wales coast. There's also Bodnant Garden which features 80 acres of garden in the Conwy Valley.

Other seaside destinations piquing the interest of British holiday-makers this year include Bridlington, a coastal town on the Holderness Coast of the North Sea (known as the 'Lobster Capital of Europe'), Bognor Regis in West Sussex, and Southend-on-Sea.

To celebrate these rising staycation destinations, Airbnb has teamed up with UK-based artists Beca Fflur and Minnie Small to create a series of bespoke, traditional-style postcards illustrating the attractions of the top 10 destinations.

Here are Airbnb's top 10 trending UK seaside destinations based on year-on-year booking growth between 12th and 18th July 2020:

  5. Morecambe

  6. Lowestoft

  7. Tenby

  8. Southend on Sea

  9. Great Yarmouth

  10. Ayr
