Top Gear star Paddy McGuinness has given an update on the new series.

The show will return to screens this weekend, with a season featuring only four episodes due to filming disruptions caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Reflecting on the shorter run, Paddy teased that the cast is already looking ahead to what the next series has to offer.

He also revealed that it may even see the presenters go "abroad again".

"It had its difficulties this one, and that's why we could only do four [episodes]," Paddy told Metro.co.uk.

"We're already starting to look at the next series and, fingers crossed, hopefully the restrictions will start easing and we will have a bit more licence. Who knows, we might even be able to do a trip abroad again."

He added: "It's good to be back with the boys again. It's a pleasure, and we've kind of found our stride and we just keep trying to improve every series."

Top Gear series 30 will welcome back Paddy, alongside his co-presenters Chris Harris and Freddie Flintoff.

As well as being cut short due to the pandemic, the new series will not feature a studio audience for the first time in the show's history.

The presenters also recently confirmed that the 'Star in a Reasonably Priced Car' segment has been cut to make the show more COVID safe.

Top Gear will return this Sunday (March 14) at 8pm on BBC One.
