Top Met officer to fight child abuse image case

A senior Scotland Yard female officer charged with possessing an indecent image of a child is to fight the case, sources said today.

Superintendent Robyn Williams, 54, a hugely respected and high-flying role model in the Met, has been charged with possessing an indecent image of a child of the most severe category, Category A, after allegedly receiving a WhatsApp video on her phone.

The officer, the borough commander for Sutton, is also charged with one count of corruption in failing to report her sister Jennifer Hodge over the distribution of the indecent image. Supt Williams, recently commended for her work in helping Grenfell Tower families, claims she never saw the picture which it is alleged was sent to her in February last year.

She is due to appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on March 12 with her sister Ms Hodge, 55, and her sister’s partner Dido Massivi, 61.

Sources say Supt Williams denies seeing the image and a friend said: “She is absolutely distraught. She says she gets a lot of messages from her sister and she never saw this image. She completely denies the allegations and she is going to fight this. It is devastating for her.”

Supt Williams has been placed on restricted duties.

Hodge has been charged with distributing an indecent image of a child, while Massivi is facing two counts of distributing an indecent image of a child and one count of possession of extreme pornography.
