Topless Eco-Protester Removed by Security After Interrupting Avril Lavigne Speech at Juno Awards
A topless protester who interrupted Avril Lavigne at the Juno music awards in Edmonton, Alberta, was seen being escorted off stage by security on March 13.
Footage recorded by Cindy Lyn Hann – which has since gone viral, amassing over 700,000 views – shows security escorting the streaker off stage, as Lavigne is heard continuing her speech in the background.
CBC reported the incident occurred while Lavigne was on stage introducing “one of the evening’s performers, Punjabi-Canadian rapper and singer AP Dhillon.” Additional footage from the incident shared online shows Lavigne confronting the topless stage-crasher, telling her to “get the f**k off.”
Global News reported that the protester had the words “Save the Greenbelt” written on her body, adding that “in November, Ontario announced plans to allow for 7,400 acres of the protected Greenbelt to be developed into housing.” Credit: Cindy Lyn Hann via Storyful
