East Lancashire's Tories are heading for an East Lancashire wipe-out, according to the latest voting survey by national opinion pollsters YouGov.

The exercise which uses survey data from almost 60,000 respondents says Labour on course for 66 seats across North-West following the July 4 General Election. While the Conservatives are left with only three MPs in the region.

Nationally it estimates that Labour is set for a landslide with 422 seats to 140 for the Tories. The seat-by-seat MRP analysis suggests that current Tory MPs Sir Jake Berry (Rossendale and Darwen), Sara Britcliffe (Hyndburn), Nigel Evans (Ribble Valley).

Antony Higginbotham (Burnley) and Andrew Stephenson (Pendle) would all be sent packing on the new Parliamentary political map.

It says Reform UK is set to take no Westminster seats, although the analysis was conducted before news of Nigel Farage standing in Clacton and taking over as party leader.

Health minister Andrew Stephenson said: “This does not reflect what I am finding in the hundreds of doorstep conversations I have had since the election was called. Whatever the polls say I will be fighting for every vote in the coming days.”

House of Commons Deputy Speaker Mr Evans said: “I am not getting what is in this poll as I go out campaigning on the doorstep. People know I am a champion for the Ribble Valley.

“There is a long way to go and I am confident I and my East Lancashire Conservative colleagues can be re-elected. One thing this survey does show is that a vote for Reform UK is a vote for a Labour MP.”

In Rossendale and Darwen the YouGov poll predicts a comfortable Labour victory over Sir Jake with nearly 46.1 per cent of the vote against the Conservatives 31.6 with Reform UK third on 11.1. In Hyndburn it forecasts a Labour victory with 52.3 per cent of the vote against Tory candidate Miss Britcliffe’s 24.7 with Reforms UK third on 13.4.

In Burnley the polling says it will be another comfortable Labour win gaining 54.7 per cent of the vote Mr Higginbotham getting 20.1 per cent and Reform Uk third with 13.7. In Blackburn the YouGov polling data predicts that Labour’s Kate Hollern will keep the seat with 60.5 per cent of the vote followed by the Conservatives and Greens tied on 10.9. It takes no account of the Workers Party of Great Britain candidate Craig Murray or the several Independents planning to stand.

In the two heavily redrawn East Lancashire constituencies the news from YouGov is equally bad for the Conservatives. In the new Pendle and Clitheroe seat YouGov predicts Mr Stephenson would come second with 33 per cent of the vote against Labour’s 41.4 but well ahead of Reform UK on 12.1 per cent.

In the new Ribble Valley County, Tory candidate Mr Evans is forecast to get 35.9 per cent of the vote losing out to Labour on 41.5. Reform UK are predicted to come third with 10.7 per cent.
